Marco Porta is associate professor at the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering of the University of Pavia (Pavia, Italy). He received the Dr. Eng. (Master) degree in Electronic Engineering from the Politechnic of Milan (Milan, Italy) and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Pavia. His research interests include eye tracking applications, vision-based perceptive interfaces, visual browsing of large collections of images, visual languages, e-learning, user centered interface design and Human-Computer Interaction in general. He has published more than 70 articles in international journals, conference proceedings and books and has participated in several international and national projects (also as a work package leader). He has been the organizer and chair of the special session “Vision-based perceptive interfaces for PC interaction” within the 11th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI 2005), and co-chair of the track “Telemedicine and E-health” within the 2nd and 3rd IEEE International Conferences on Human-System Interaction (HSI 2009 and HIS 2010). He has been a member of Technical Program Committees for several conferences.
